Vietnam is one of the most well known nation in southeast Asia. The country is officially known as the Social Republic of Vietnam and is abbreviated as SRV. The socialist Republic of Vietnam is one of the few countries in the world that has a single party social republic. The country is governed by a single political party. The country do not have any opposition parties. However, there are some small opposition parties that operate from overseas. They have a little impact on the political scenario of this country.
The politics of Vietnam occurs in a framework of a single-party socialist republic. The central role of the Communist Party of Vietnam is reasserted in the current constitution. This constitution is adopted in the month of April in the year 1992. Though Vietnam remains a single-party state, the communist Party did not stick to its ideological orthodoxy. Instead the government or the ruling party have stressed upon the economic development of the nation. The Communist Party of Vietnam has treated the nessecity of economic development in the country as a national priority.
The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is governed through a highly centralized system which has the Vietnamese Communist Party at the heart of it. The Vietnamese communist Party dominates the political scenario of Vietnam. All the political organizations of Vietnam are under the control of Vietnamese Communist Party. No separation of power exists between the executive, legislative and judicial branches in this country. Communist Party policy is set by a Politburo consisting of fourteen members. The Party Secretariat, which consists of eight Politburo members, oversees day-to-day policy implementation.
